We wish we could fix you master62.
There isn't anything inherently wrong with double space posts, and rambling isn't entirely new here.

Really, he is working behind the scenes. It's fairly normal for him to disappear for months on end.

There need not be explicit references to women in either military force. Just because all the characters we know are male, it does not mean there are absolutely no women around.
And remember this is a game. We can bend some rules of physics in order to create a story, something I call creative license. However, a good story is one that does not abuse creative license and uses it only to help the coherence or continuity of the story.

Seriously, that was rather insensitive master. First of all, militaries do far more than combat missions. Consider the humanitarian missions currently taking place in Haiti. Secondly, the loss of a family member is not something to be taken lightly. What you posted could be taken as a insult to heros and his family.

You might be surprised at the age distribution of the players that are left here. Look up some old threads with the word "Census" in the title. There you'll find polls indicating the distribution of ages among the members of QL in times past. Add a few years to the bounds of each category and you'll see just how old the average player is.
Besides, if the person has included their birth date in their profile, you can figure out their age.
PS: I'm 18 and working towards a CS degree.

No, heros and everyone who said that is quite correct. I strongly urge you to fix your spelling and grammar to a point where it is at least easily readable.
And really, I find it hard to believe General Carter survived after both Globex's implicit defeat and 50 years. If he's still alive (highly unlikely), I would say he's almost in his 90s (if not older), and certainly no longer capable of commanding a battlegroup, no less the remnants of an ages-old military.

Search for the Beta Tester Signup thread in QL Discussions. It's been locked for well over a year now, but it contains every request people have made for Beta Tester status (which in that time meant access to part of the GBX tech tree and a modified Apostle). Its also (currently) the longest thread in existence on this forum (1362 posts long), and hangs around at about page 10 of the QL Discussions section. Eighty percent of those posts are probably actual requests, the rest are either Miles posting lists of the newest testers (and lists of people denied Beta) or Moderators/veteran members keeping things in check.
If my memory serves me well, Beta Tester signups closed on January 1st, 2007.

You do also realize that Globex, by 2152, may no longer exist as a military force, given that they were on the cusp of defeat by the end of Out of Time 5.2. After all, they are taking on the combined forces of the Free Trade Alliance and the Saltus Defense Force. Blair is the only known defector and there is no reason to believe that other FTA commanders have done the same (no other FTA witnesses were there at the murdering of the Council Member).
Here's an aside: Everyone's obsession with antagonizing the SDF in user-made campaigns and maps is getting old. The only reason the SDF got involved in Out of Time 5.1 and beyond is because Globex refused to accept the terms of the "court ruling" they handed to them (yes, it was probably bogus and involved some arm twisting by Brice, but a ruling nonetheless). As soon as Globex is forced to accept those terms (and possibly any additional terms after their impending surrender), the SDF is going to resume their normal business as the planetary police. They have no reason to further pursue relations with either of the two factions, aside from diplomatic relations. The SDF is, after all, a military force whose first priority is the well-being of the citizens of Saltus and not to run around attacking every easy target they see.

Correct. What really happened at the end of Out of Time 5.2 was that Blair was erroneously transported 50 years into the future, year 2152 (Initial Tactics takes place in 2102). Price of Justice is to start off from there.
If you wanted things to happen in 2052 (which was the intended travel date for Blair), you would also have to deal with the problem that planet Saltus had not even been colonized yet, not to mention conflicting with QL canon (unless of course this was meant to be a "what if" campaign, where we see what would happen if things happened differently).

PoJ costing money is not news to veteran members of the community. The only people who will receive PoJ free are the Beta Testers and anyone with higher status (I'm not quite sure about Digital Upgrade users).

Thread: LEVEL COMPLETE-1.1 The Beginning |

There is one thing I must inform the community of:
My attempt at adding this level to the SP list is not working. The map, for whatever reason, cannot be streamed from the server. I'm asking around for some way to resolve this, depending on the time it takes for Miles to help out or I find out what I'm doing wrong.
I will post here if and when I get the map successfully uploaded. If you see TB1.1 appear on the list and there is no post from me, the map may not be loadable and I am trying to make the necessary changes to resolve this.

For the SDK Testers, there is a tutorial in the SDK section detailing how one can create their own custom landscape... though I haven't read it myself since I don't have the appropriate software.
As it stands, we aren't allowed to (explicitly) divulge content from the SDK section of these forums here.

What, may I ask, is your definition of a "2010 game"?

PoJ can't go ahead until IT is finished. IT is entirely not-for-profit and to acquire new staff members will not be easy - finding people to work for free is hardly easy at all. PoJ was supposed to be a game people paid for.
I will agree that part of the reason the community has diminished is the lack of updates. However, if you looked through the old change logs from the 0.2.x series of the game, you would notice arbitrarily long gaps between updates. It certainly has not been a problem in the past.

Port forwarding is an issue that affects many other games... the difference is that they had teams of people working on that one problem compared to this game, where we only have 4 people covering all the jobs that a game being developed by a larger company would employ a staff in the hundreds of people. Cut the developers some slack. It's great that they are offering this game free: generosity is something that few video game firms offer to their players. But in these economic times, generosity is a costly thing to offer, even from those with the best of intentions.
