without Comsat we wouldnt be able to communicate with other players. especially when youre both building bases and need to pass the time somehow. plus, you can taunt your opponents into foolishly attacking you lol

Precisely. It's very impolite to shout all the time. Try doing that at home, and you'll understand. Forums are basically places where you can chat, in a sense. And later I think there will actually be separate servers though.

And yes. I'd say there will be cable (possibly even more then three to handle POJ as well). As the game gets bigger, I dont think one server could handle 100-500 players at one time (think of the MP games you could play though )
Um, if I'm not mistaken, all the servers are for MP. Things like SP and tutorials could be done on Local Login, while multiplayer can only be done on a com-sat server. So you could say MP already has a seperate server
problem, though, with local login: it will not update your completion list.

cable, if theres a dedicated MP server, more people will go to it to play wont they, thus making more lag, no? It probably better to have 3 server, that way, you can just play in whatever one is the emptiest and have a battle in that one.
As for the local login, is this a bug? I know that if I were on holiday and didn't have access to the net, that I wouldn't want to have to keep restarting the game because I cant login to my account on Promethius.
Well, you could always do what Robotrage does and have various servers around the globe so it speeds up games for say me and a friend next door or something. That would be the ultimate MP server, but it would cost a lot of $$ (if you cant find someone willing to host the games for free)
Maybe the mods? Although they aren't terribly well spread. Hopefully there will be people sufficiently interested in hosting once the game is complete.
Is the server easily distibutable though? Afterall, we could be talking about this when it would take months of work to get the servers running which Miles not be willing to do.
There is a difference between Admins and Developers. For eg, out of those 5-6 admins, maybe only 2-3 develop the game, and maybe one of them does graphics leaving 1-2 actual coding devs. Would those 1-2 be able to make an exe that installs a QL hosting server that automatcially shows up in the game, or would it be too much trouble for them. Thats what I want to know.
With regards to the servers:
Distributing the load among them will lessen the load on them. For now, all of them route to the same one. When all three are online, they will operate independently of each other (meaning that you get a different server list with each different server).
cardb0ard, when these independant servers are online, will they be in the same room, town, or country, or will the possibly and hopefully be in three places around the world, eg: australia, england and USA?
