| [ QL Forum Rules Thread ] |
  |
ALL forum users must observe and follow these rules while in this forum. Please also note that some rules extend to the game and outside of this forum. Moderators and Administrators are not responsible for making sure users are informed of these rules.
Forum Rules (v1.1.0)
General Conduct
The following activities are prohibited on this forum:
- 1. Spamming - this is a broad term for unnecessary posts that include, but are not limited to chatting in threads, double (or multi-) posting, flaming, bumping threads, inflating, posting threads irrelevant to the section it is in, and advertising.
Definitions
Double/multi-posting: making two or more consecutive posts within a short time, exceptions at the discretion of the Moderators.
Flaming: posting inflammatory comments
Bumping (also "necroposting"): posting in an old thread to move it to the top of the list, exception given to stickied threads.
Inflating: posts made solely for the purpose of increasing post count or experience level
Advertising: posting of links to other websites, games, etc. (Exception: signatures may contain such links)
- 2. Excessive use of smilies (cumulatively or consecutively: a post is considered to have too many smilies when it bears a string of 6 or more consecutive smilies or there are as many smilies as there are words in the post)
- 3. Excessive profanity (abbreviated, censored, or intentionally misspelled, a post is considered to have an excessive amount of profanity when the number of such words exceeds 3: there is no tolerance for profane words left uncensored)
- 4. Threatening Moderators or Administratiors (also extends outside of forum: no level of legitimate threatening is tolerated)
- 5. Defamatory comments (includes, but not limited to race, sex or sexual orientation, religious affiliation, ethnicity - carries an instant ban, zero tolerance)
- 6. Sexually explicit material (carries an instant ban, zero tolerance for such materials)
- 7. Asking for another person's account details (username or password, ingame or forum, as the only reason you would want them is to steal their account)
NEVER give your password and account details out to anyone! If someone tells you they need this information they are lying!
Consequences include (but not limited to) a posted or PMed warning from a Mod, unless specified. Repeated offences will result in continued warnings and a ban.
Beta Tester Applications
As of Jan. 1st, 2007, applications for Beta Tester status have closed. However...
As of the update on March 19, 2008, users may obtain a "Digital Upgrade", which essentially puts them at the same permission levels as a Beta Tester (i.e. Globex, Super/Mega weapons, etc.). The requirements for the Digital Upgrade are the completion of the QL Single Player storyline (Levels 1.1 to 5.2) on an account created prior to March 12, 2008
SDK Applications
These actions are not permitted in or out of this forum or in the game.
- Posting extra threads (applications are e-mailed or PMed to Miles)
- Asking in other threads (read the first post of the appropriate thread)
- Assisting others (results in forum ban and removal of your in-game account for both the applicant and the assistant)
- Reapplying early (if your application is rejected, you must wait for the 2 weeks to expire before trying again)
- Asking Mods (we have no affiliation with granting access to the SDK either)
- Bribery (any attempt to obtain SDK Tester status through means of a bribe is strictly prohibited)
Consequences include rejection of application, permanent denial, warnings from Mods, bans for repeat offenders.
General Practices
These are not exactly rules, but things users should do before making new posts or threads.
- Search first (make sure this topic has not already been raised)
- Linking (for threads that carry over to other forums), the second thread should contain a link to the original (an example of this are the "Units Lining Up" threads) and, if applicable, the original thread should be closed
- Spelling and Grammar (it must be adequate enough for the reader to understand what you are saying!)
- Refrain from using all capitals in posts (it looks like you are trying to instigate a flame war, or escalating one)
- Details in bug reports (they are required in order for them to be resolved)
- Make thread titles obvious (don't put something like "Read this!")
These rules are subject to change without notice. Any questions about these rules should be PMed to a Mod or Admin (Mod is preferable) or posted in this thread. Discussion of these rules elsewhere is prohibited.
If in doubt of these rules, read this.

Very nice cardb0ard, but some slight changes to make (see red bits):
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ALL forum users must observe and follow these rules while in this forum. Please also note that some rules extend to the game and outside of this forum.
Forum Rules (v1.0.0)
General Conduct
The following activities are prohibited on this forum:
- Spamming (making irrelevant posts which don't relate or contribute to the topic of the thread)
- Double posting (two or more consecutive posts within a short period of time)
- Flaming (fighting/arguing with other forum members continuously)
- Bumping (making useless posts to move a thread to the top of the list with the exception of legitimate updates)
- Reviving old threads (ONLY allowed if the post contributes something not already mentioned)
- Inflating (making useless posts in order to increase post count/experience points)
- Posting unrelated threads (make sure it is in the correct forum - any non-QL related threads go to Open Discussion)
- Excessive use of smilies (either cumulatively or in consecutive order)
- Excessive profanity (spanning several posts or threads)
- Discriminatory/Racist comments (carries an instant ban)
- Sexually explicit material (carries an instant ban)
Consequences include (but not limited to) a posted or PMed warning from a Mod, unless specified. Repeated offences will result in continued warnings and a ban.
Beta Tester Applications
These activities are not permitted in or out of the Official Beta Tester application thread.
- Revealing your password (security reasons)
- Posting extra threads (use the official thread ONLY)
- Asking in unrelated threads (counts also as spam)
- Extra posts (you must wait for a response from Miles)
- Asking Mods (we have no affiliation with granting Beta Tester Accounts)
- Reapplying early
Consequences include (but not limited to) denial of Beta, varying from 1-2 weeks, permanent denial, and verbal/PMed warnings from Mods. Repeated offences result in a ban.
Note that Beta Tester Applications will close on Jan. 1st, 2007.
- Reapplying early (if application is denied first time round, you must wait for the 2 weeks to expire before trying again)
- Applying without prerequisites (you must be a Beta Tester for 2 weeks when submitting your application)
- Asking Mods (we have no affiliation with granting access to the SDK either)
Consequences include rejection of application, permanent denial, warnings from Mods, bans for repeat offenders.
General Practices
These are not exactly rules, but things users should do before making new posts or threads.
- Search first (make sure this topic has not already been mentioned) using a combination of search terms (e.g. "troop line up", "formations", "unit control" etc)
- Linking (for threads that carry over to other forums or threads), the second thread should contain a link to the original (an example of this are the "Units Lining Up" threads) and, if applicable, the original should be closed to avoid multiple discussions on the same topic
- Spelling, Grammar, and Punctuation (it must be adequate enough for the reader to understand what you are saying their first time reading it!). l33t speak and abbreviations like u, r, and y are not acceptable as they decrease readability
These rules are subject to change without advanced notice. Any questions about these rules should be PMed to a Mod or Admin (Mod is preferable) or posted in this thread. Any additional threads to discuss these rules is prohibited.

You are double posting if you make two or more consecutive posts within a short period of time like the rules say.
That means if you post after this one, then make a second post 2 minutes later, so that you two post are right next to one another, you double posted. The only time its allowed is when the author of the thread (no one else) need to make a double post to update reader. My QL wiki thread for example. Something major happens, I might have to double post to tell it. (but I merge the two posts together once someone replies).
If you make a post, get no reply, and post again a day later, its called bumping a thread, so make sure its important issue, like the game crashed my computer, not who wants to play MP games.
Finally, if you find a thread thats last post was at least a monht ago, and post in it, you are reviving it, so make sure what you have to say is new and on topic, or you will be told off.
